FAQ: Can the patron pay the processing fee on the application?
Overview
Client's often ask, "Can the patron pay the processing fee?"
Yes, but read carefully how it works.
How the AGS Payment Processing Fee works
The AGS Payment Processing Fee is 4.9% +$1. It is calculated based on the total money collected from the applicant.
In this case, $106.20 is what the applicant pays. $106.20 is used to calculate the $6.20 AGS fee. In this case, the $6.20 fee was added back into the application as a line item.
How does this series of transactions get recorded in the community's account portal?
Line Item #1) $106.20 is credited to the community.
Line Item #2) $6.20 fee is accessed to the community. $106.20 * 4.9% +$1 = $6.20.
Note: $100.00 is not credited to the community. There are two separate line items in your account. $106.20 is credited to the community, THEN a $6.20 fee is accessed. The net result is $100.00.
How AGS adds a line item called "Processing Fee" to an application?
In the above case, a calculation is used so exactly $100.00 is the net payout for this transaction. But you can use any calculation you wish.
